Texas Business, Political, and Community Leaders Announce Support Senator Barack Obama for President at Standing Room Only Press Conference

Houston, TX, January 26, 2007-- Supporters packed the Reggae Hut early Friday morning where they were gathered for the official announcement of the establishment of the Texans 4 Obama committee. The group, a coalition of early supporters, is focused on aligning their efforts to support Senator Barack Obama’s potential bid for president of the United States of America.

“We believe that the presidential election will be much different than any election that we have ever experienced as a nation. Americans will be asking more of our elected officials than ever before. Right now, we have an opportunity to help push our choice for president from a grassroots level at a time that people want to know more about Obama.” said James Robertson, Jr. spokesperson and chairman of the coalition. Robertson is chairman of B L A C K D E M S, Texas’ premier African American political organization.

Robertson follows, “Obama understands that our diversity and success is only possible in a country as great as America. We believe that in a “greater” America that we can select our leaders not on race or gender, but on competency, vision, and character.”

Among those in attendance were other founding supporters Ron Reynolds, Marlon Barabin, Terrance Shanks, Dena Gray, Jeffery Boney, Alysia Minor, Le Criss F. Smith, Dallas Jones, Stephen Carter, Marcus Davis, Estelle Stewart, Wanda Adams, Joi Beasly, Robyn Emerson, Olutoyin Oho, Darryl Locket, Charlotte Rossette, and Kizzie White.
