We need your help to make sure that candidates that support the community are supported by the community and have the opportunity to serve. We have had several job opportunities to date and they have all required grassroots training. We will train you how to become an organizer while you volunteer your time with BLACKDEMS. Details: We love and honor our Veterans and we want to show them by providing them with the assistance that they need! Join us to meet Veterans throughout the Houston area and connect with local leaders, elected officials, and community activist to give respect and assistance to the men and women who risked so much for us all. They deserve more than just rhetoric, they deserve our sincere respect, and admiration.  The event is held in conjunction with the Collegiate Veterans Society and the University of Houston office of Veteran's Affair.  For more information contact Marc Bygrave, Veteran's Forum Chairperson at anthoniebygrave@yahoo.com.
 

We were honored to be part of the host committee when Tennessee Congressman turned Senatorial candidate Harold Ford came to Houston for the All-Star Fundraiser.

It truly was an all-star night with many famous athletes and local politicians in attendance.

Sylvester Turner gave a great speech to BLACKDEMS members about stepping up to the plate and taking our role in modern politics. “People like you…. Are the present and the future of our party.”

Chairman James Robertson spoke about the real vision of our organization and staying on track throughout the new year. “We must continue to be innovative and stay true to the mission of BLACKDEMS. The only that we can do this effectively is to believe that we really can create positive change.”

Chairman James Robertson, and members Diedra Rasheed, Mark Bygrave, and Harris County Clerk candidate James Pierre participated in Pleasantville’s annual voter’s forum. Pierre spoke about Voter Verification while Robertson focused on the power of voting and breaking down the electoral process. This was the first of our educational workshops of the year!
Well too late because we have already started our first meetings and things are going great! Director Aisha Savoy met with prospective members, local leaders and activist to discuss the goals and objectives for the year. We love TSU and are looking forward to a great and productive year!
