| James Robertson
Jr. was born in 1978 in New Orleans Louisiana. Both parents
moved to Houston with the new opportunities given to minorities
at the height of the civil rights movement and began working
for Exxon, both being top in their class in their respective
fields. |

Robertson attended Klein
Forest High School and went on to University of Houston
as a Jesse Jones Business scholarship recipient. James
was active in a multitude of activities in college from
being a resident advisor, marketing coordinator, middle
linebacker, to being a two term student body president.
James was one of two African American student body presidents
elected in University of Houston History. He was the first
independent candidate to win a presidential campaign at
UH. |

second term’s success was no different, his party
“Student Voice” won every contested seat by
one of the largest margins of victory in UH history. “Student
Voice” used their influence to make university life
better for all students working to achieve a better education.
The “Student Voice” party continues to have
an active presence to this day in UH politics. |

Upon graduation Robertson
spent one year as an executive for May Company, then made
the gradual transition into public service. James was
active in several political campaigns and became campaign
manager for the latest Constable election for Pct. 7 recruiting
300 volunteers, the largest unpaid campaign staff in Houston
in 2004. City Controller Annise Parker was so impressed
by his performance that she created a position within
the Controller’s office for him. |

| Currently,
James Robertson serves on three boards, (Life Houston,
Parish School, Heights Opera Board), is regional director
for Texas Young Democrats, and Founder/Chairman of Blackdems. |
